Assisting My Grannie

April 29, 2010

Next week I visit my nanna. I look forward to meeting her, even if she’s grown a bit stubborn in her later years. I won’t embarrass her by divulging her age, but let’s just say she’s a woman with thoroughly practiced wisdom.

The last time I saw her I brought in my yamaha keyboard so I could play her some music. She relished it, but regrettably since she’s not completely there, she kept disrupting me to inquire of me to help her find a all-in-one printer scanner fax copier. Yes, she really uses a computer. And maybe she was interrupting me because I’m simply that bad at playing the keyboard.

I constantly discover something puzzling at her house when I see her. Last time, I found several guides on penny stocks on her cocktail table. My grandmother learning about penny stock investing? That’s nuts. I wonder what I’ll find on her cocktail table this time.

This week will make for a busy visit. We must install her new Emtek door knobs and air conditioner filters then fix her garden cart. I also need to bring her old pots and pans to charity as she just purchased a new set of pots and pans to supplant them. As a reward, she claims to also have bought one of the best ice cream makers and the greatest of all the electic coffee makers. I am thankful, but I also must chuckle as she invariably claims to have or utilize only the very best of this or that.

If everything proceeds well, she’ll use both to serve me some sweet java at dawn and ice cream in the evening. This sounds like more than reward enough for my assistance. I’m glad to assist her for nothing, but a bit of rich java and sweat ice cream does not bother me.
