Is it worth using a reverse phone internet service on a nuisance phone call?
February 7, 2010
This is a tricky question that nobody can really answer for you, but how badly do you need to know who made the call?
If you have been receiving prank phone calls then you can just report them to your local police station and then it is in their hands. If you trust them to pursue it then that should be the matter resolved. If you really want to be certain that someone is going to take action then you need to get in contact with the company that provides them their service. The service provider will take the matter seriously and it could lead to the person making the calls being disconnected.
You will really struggle to phone their service provider though without the use of a cell phone number lookup website as without those websites there is no way of knowing who they are with (unless you phone their voicemail and they haven’t changed their message then sometimes you can tell from that). So even though there is a small charge then the best option is to just use it and dig up the service provider and the name and address of the person.
The police will be able to do a lot more if they already have the name and address as you have provided it, of course you should still go to the phone company too.
Then they can’t escape getting into trouble. Of course they could carry on anyway - but if you know the name of the person you at least have the upperhand and if you confront them with the evidence and let them know you will just keep reporting them then you are no longer being a faceless victim and most people are cowards and will just stop straight away.
