Tinnitus is common in most of the people, but still the causes of tinnitus remain still unidentified in many patients. People who find out the reasons for tinnitus are easy to cure as they can get rid of hidden problem. Damage to the inner ear or extensive exposure to loud sounds, buildup of wax, age related problems or stricture of ear bones are all very common reasons of the occurance of tinnitus.
Common causes of tinnitus include the damage to the inner ear cell or fine cochlear hairs which conduct the sound. Trigger the release of an electrical signal through the auditory nerve to your brain where it is interpreted as a sound and these delicate hairs located along the inner ear canal are moved by sound waves. Damage to the inner ear or cochlear hairs can meant that incorrect impulses are being sent to the brain which can be a cause of tinnitus.
Hearing loss in older age may also become the reason of tinnitus. A decrease in hearing as they age,many people experience. This hearing loss can lead to tinnitus as the nerves in the inner ear weaken.
Prolonged exposure to loud noises is one major cause of both hearing loss and tinnitus. Anyone working around loud machinery can get exposed loud noisess. Listening to ipods at high volumesor other devices it can also result into ear damage. I guess your mother was right in a sense, when you were little and you listened to your music to loud, and she said that you would have problems with your hearing later in life, well now you do. So maybe you should have listened to your mother.
A buildup of earwax commonly causes hearing loss and it can cause tinnitus as well if the pressure from the wax buildup affects the nerves in the inner ear. This is one cause of tinnitus that is easily remedied by removing the excess wax.
Difficulty caused by the stiffening of the ear bones in the middle ear is known as otosclerosis. This condition is hereditary and causes abnormal bone growth in the ear and can lead to hearing loss and tinnitus.
Some people never determine the sources of their problem,while these are the most common know causes of tinnitus. Stress, head and neck injuries, brain tumors, and high blood pressure can also cause or contribute to tinnitus,some doctors think that. Meniere’s disease is rare but its a disorder of the inner ear that can be a cause for tinnitus.
